YOGA: Time to relax

Taking into account the enthusiastic request from children and adults to do yoga, the volunteers of "Volunteering for Change", prepared to do several sessions in all the villages, thanks to our partner Javi who had experience in this beautiful practice.


Both in Eleshnitsa, Gorno Draghliste and also Bachevo, we carry out this activity with a lot of participation. Since most of the children had never done yoga, it was surprising to them.



The younger ones took it as a very fun game, and the older ones as a healthy and comforting practice. We always started with the half-lotus posture singing the "om", something that seemed very funny to them. Then we performed fun basic poses such as "the butterfly", "the camel", "the dog"... and other more difficult ones of balance, such as "the tree" and the famous "warrior pose".


All the postures and movements, as well as the parts of the body involved, were explained in English, so that while they exercised they learned basic concepts and vocabulary in English. Yoga is a great practice, in which you not only work flexibility, strength, or endurance, but also concentration, breathing and balance. For all this, it has many health benefits for both children and adults.


This activity is one of the ones that the children liked the most, so we did it continuously, and they were happy. Namaste!
