Volunteers for "Volunteering 4 Change", a project funded by the European Solidarity Corps program and coordinated by International Initiatives for Cooperation, started activities in the town of Bachevo. To our surprise, more than 40 children from the town were waiting for us in the house of culture, with great enthusiasm to start doing activities with us. The first workshop in the city of Bachevo was with recycled household materials, such as toilet paper rolls and recycled paper, to turn them into beautiful animals. Despite the short time we had, the activity was very intense and we were able to finish them all.
Most of the children did not speak English, and our volunteer assistant from Bachevo lent us a hand to help us communicate well.
During that first day they gave us ideas about the activities they would like to do in the following sessions.
As you can see in the photo, it was crazy to see so many children in so little space, although we were satisfied with their reception and participation.
