Every country and community has its own food culture and food culture acts as a bridge in terms of bringing different cultures closer to each other. Even though people from different countries as foreigners, when you sit at the dinner table, they recognize the similar types of these dishes in different forms in their own countries, thus a warm atmosphere begins to form. The lunch held between volunteers and project managers last week has achieved its purpose for exactly this reason.
Kaan (Turkish volunteer), prepared a bean soup, Elif (Turkish volunteer) made a traditional Turkish dish called "tarhana soup". David (coordinator), prepared lentil meal, our other project coordinator Kostadinka enthralled us all with her desserts. Carmen (Spanish volunteer), prepared a spinach dish, whereas Alvaro presented a different flavor with onion soup. Our office worker Reny created a little war with the cake she made.
With this event we organized, we all had a chance to share amazing tastes, as well as laughter. As we took the first step towards building a strong connection, stay up to date, to see how we are realizing our goals, towards a better tomorrow. All these activities are organized by International Initiatives for Cooperation, through Volunteer 4 Change Project for volunteers, and co-funded by European Solidarity Corps.
