On Saturday, September 14th, Bulgaria participated to second edition of World Clean-up Day, that is part of a worldwide campaign.
Our organization "International Initiatives for Cooperation " participated for the second consecutive year in this campaign. The IIC staff and all volunteers from
the "Volunteering 4 Change" and "Community of Open Learners" projects proposed and cleaned Golak Mountain, located in the city of Razlog.
We campaigned for the Razlog residents to participate with us and finally some teenagers from the town close to the entity joined the team.
The municipality of Razlog supported us with the necessary materials and tools. And in the end more than 20 large garbage bags were collected.
It was a very rewarding experience for all the participants, since it improved the teamwork, which was divided into two working groups (Pink butterflies and Happy Unicorns). This activity made us aware of the importance of small actions to protect our planet.
After cleaning the beautiful Golak hill, the IIC staff organized a picnic with food and drinks to relax and unwind. In the evening, the volunteers organized a screening in the office of the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth", to raise awareness about climate change.
