“Fun, happiness, knowledge” this is what summer academy is all about. Thursday, August 30th was the last day of the International Initiatives for Cooperation (IIC) summer academy 2018. With lots of emotions, Children from Razlog community received their Summer Academy certificate to end the season!
2018 was the second year of the Summer Academy initiative. From June to August, the IIC volunteers from COOL projects gathered twice a week with children in front of Razlog museum and organized non-formal activities for 2 hours.
Each activity is thought to develop Children’s skills such as team work, concentration, self-confidence. We, IIC volunteers, built a mind-mapping of the competencies we wished children to get or improve and created activities around them.
Each activity required preparation : from a couple of hours to a whole week ! It’s a lot of work but we really enjoyed it as we are a great team full of different potentials and amazing personalities. Each volunteer arrived in Razlog with their own passions, interests, cultures, worries and objectives and working altogether allowed us to come up with creative, attractive and acknowledgeable activities for Razlog’s kids.
Non-formal education activities is a wonderful way for children to bring out new skills as well as for IIC volunteers.
This year’s summer academy was a real success as children kept coming from the beginning to the end. They were very happy to meet new friends, play new games, laugh, smile, learn some English in a non boring way and discover new cultures from all around the world J For us, what made us even happier was when we received such presents and feedbacks from kids (see picture). Summer Academy is for us …
As every happy time ends up with a piece of cake, IIC summer academy 2018 is also entitled to have its own cake! Thanks to our wonderful local volunteer Simona, every participant enjoyed her delicious summer academy cupcakes.
So this is the end …but only for 2018 !
