Green investment for future

Updated: Sep 13, 2018

On 29th of April IIC organization, together with Community of Open Learners’ and Media for Youth projects EVS volunteers in Razlog, as well as EVS volunteers from Pazarchik and Varna cities made some environmental activity and planted trees up in Golak Hill. The event was organized by Ms.Ani Kyugchieva on her personal initiative.

Golak Hill is one of the sightseeing of Razlog which is visited and loved by many many local people and foreign tourists during any single day despite the challenging stairs J. It has good overview to Razlog city, as well as beautiful look to neighboring Pirin Mountains, Rhodope Mountains and Rila Mountains.

Beauty of Golak hill is completed with the forest on the skirts of it. But unfortunately sometimes we observe that this ‘natural’ picture is disturbed by some human beings. During our event we observed that some of the trees have been cut by people and new trees are not planted instead. This is a sad truth…

Preserving nature is really important. Even if this project is out of the frame of our project and was organized during weekend and public holiday, we were so motivated to take part. Trees are holding the ground, preventing floading. They turn carbonic gas into oxygen. It is a part of our ecosystem. We need to take care of them because even if we don't see it at the first sight, we depend on them for our survival. Without them, we won't be able to survive breathing air saturated in carbonic gas, let's keep that in mind.

The project is not completed yet. 500 trees have to be planted. We managed to plant a lot of them and some are still up in the hill, waiting to be plant. We are waiting for news.

Nature is complete itself without us making any investment on it. The only task for us is not to disturb its shape at least and keep it as it is.

This work raised also our awareness of the necessity of rain. In fact, if it doesn't rain during three days, we have to carry two time at least 20 liters of water up the cliff to maintain our job alive :) .
